Megan Parker, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, working with teens and adults, both in person and online, taking most insurance. I am a native of the Virginia Beach area, living in Colorado for 22 years and recently returned. I obtained a Bachelor’s in Psychology and another in Public Health from the University of Colorado. I finished my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver. Throughout my life, I have found the healing power of nature, whether it was from swimming in the ocean and soaking in the views of marsh grasses, sand dunes, and sea life, or rafting down rivers and hiking through snowy trails. Nature can be found outside our windows if you listen for the birds or look up at the stars. I believe the benefits of this are universal.
Sometimes nature is not enough, and you may choose therapy for guidance in healing. Suffering in life is also universal. I can be a witness to your pain, help you learn to live with your losses, and find meaning in the life you are living. I can help you look for clarity on what you hope to change, assist in setting goals and finding a path forward to feel more at peace. I started my career working with hospice and those experiencing issues related to aging and end of life. This is something I became passionate about after experiencing my own profound loss. Many clients seek help due to losses not attributed to death such as ending a relationship or ending a career. I can help you navigate these changes and find a way to grow your life around the pain that comes from events like this. I am a strengths-based therapist, always looking for the things that are special and positive about you, and ways to use those things to better your life. I will also help you identify your weaknesses so you are able to recognize them and then successfully mitigate them. On a more general note, there are tools I can help you learn to better handle depression and anxiety in this complicated and stressful world. I am honored to join you on your journey when you are ready for growth!
